The IDDNC works to develop comprehensive reports benefitting the IDD community, professional organizations, national, state and Harris County stakeholders. The IDDNC is currently developing a Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Report for distribution coming late summer 2020. Other reports that the IDDNC has developed include "Prevalence Issues of Concern Recommendations" and "The Significance of Employment After High School Graduation for Persons with Developmental Disabilities: Consumer and Caregivers Perspective."
The IDDNC values knowledge, training and education as a vital service to the community. The Council has sponsored innovative and forward thinking conferences that focus on the IDD community that advocate for change and solutions in service delivery from national, state and regional perspectives.
The IDDNC has hosted and organized public forums on the challenges and needs of individuals with IDD that serve as a catalyst of orchestrating solutions. Panelist have included state legislators, leaders in the IDD field, individuals with IDD and their family members and/or caregivers. The IDDNC encourages persons with IDD to have a voice. Hosting public forums are an opportunity for individuals with IDD and their families/caregivers to shape public policy.
STATED POSITIONS AND SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS
The IDDNC provides public information to the community, Harris county Commissioners Court and other local, state and national officials by publishing and distributing public service announcements, brochures and publicly stated positions regarding IDD.
